October 15, 2020 Board of Fire Commissioner’s meeting
CHFR recognized several employees at the October 15, 2020 Board of Fire Commissioner’s meeting.
The following were recognized for their dedicated years of service:
- Lieutenant Austin Roehl – 15 years of service
- Firefighter 1st Class Charlie Childress – 15 years of service
The following was recognized for the “NOW Award”:
- Firefighter 1st Class Charlie Childress – FF Charlie Childress showed great initiative when he reached out to Training Officer Smith to request the opportunity to lead this year’s vehicle extrication training. FF Childress started the training by bringing a new style of instruction delivery to our training program by creating a presentation that has been saved into the computer system. This presentation now serves as a learning tool for all new firefighters. In January the district acquired several vehicles that were delivered to Station Three. FF Childress reviewed the vehicles and developed several scenarios that ensured all aspects of vehicle stabilization, incident safety, and vehicle extrication could be achieved during the training events. FF Childress worked with Training Officer Smith to ensure all three shifts had an equal opportunity to get the most out of the donated vehicles. FF Childress greatly enhanced the knowledge and safety that the employees of the Cedar Hammock Fire Control District will carry with them as we provide rescue services to the citizens that travel through our district. FF Childress’s personal initiative, and devotion to the vehicle extrication training reflect credit upon himself and continue the tradition of quality training for Cedar Hammock Firefighters.
