On Saturday, July 24, 2010 Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 6609 Columbia Drive. A second fire was also reported just north of this address at 6223 Columbia Drive. Upon arrival, both structures were found to be approximately 50% involved. A total of four engines, 17 fire fighters and support personnel were able to bring both fires under control in approximately 20 minutes. The first engine arrived within 5 minutes of the initial call at 22:11. Both structures were vacant and sustained about $30,000.00 each. No one was injured and the cause is still under investigation.
