Congratulations go out to Firefighter Zach Kertz on his promotion to Second Class Firefighter. Firefighter Kertz was recognized at the Board of Commissioners meeting in May for this outstanding achievement, his hard work, and dedication.
The Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust Reimbursement is provided to our district to assist with the purchase of safety related items. The funds received from this program were used to assist in the purchase of seven sets of bunker gear. This program helps to ensure that our crews are provided essential personal protective equipment. It is a pleasure to work with the Preferred Government Insurance Trust.

Board of Commissioners Meeting April 19, 2018
Firefighter Aron Kaloostian was honored by the Sons of Revolution at the Board of Commissioners Meeting on April 19, 2018. Tim Milligan a member of the Sons of Revolution presented Firefighter Kaloostian with their Fire Safety Commendation Medal.
Firefighter Kaloostian also received an award from the VFW Post #10141. The VFW honored Firefigher Kaloostian for firefighter of the year and presented him with a certificate and gift.
Deputy Chief Mike DeChelbor, Captain ryan French, Lt. Matt Jones, Firefighter Randall Fowler, Firefighter Nick Lynch, Firefighter James Taylor, and Firefighter Bobby Wadsworth were each presented with a NOW Award (Notable Outstanding Work). They were nominated by Firefighter Mike dunn for the outstanding job and committment these individuals had on the engine spec committee for the design of our new fire engine.
Lt. Matt Jones, Firefighter Randall Fowler, and Firefighter Aron Kaloostian were presented Hurricane Campaign Awards from the Manatee County Fire chiefs Assocation.
Chief Jeff Hoyle Presented to commissioner tom flynn’s family, a placque bearing his badge and name plate. Commissioner Flynn passed away on Feb. 18, 2018. Mrs. Gayle flynn and her son Shawn Flynn spoke of the dedication and love Commissioner flynn had for cedar hammock Fire Rescue.

On a night of celebration and promise, it’s the worst thing that can happen….students drink alcohol at the prom, and get in their cars and possibly cause an accident. Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue, Manatee County EMS, manatee county sheriff’s department and students from lake erie college of osteopathic medicine worked together to demonstrate the dangers of drinking and driving, in front of large group of students at bayshore high school. The re-enactment showed the aftermath of a drunken driving accident to promote awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving .
First Responder’s Night
The Bradenton Marauders hosted a first responder’s night at their April 20, 2018 game against the Fort Myers Miracle. The event featured First Responder Vehicles, a themed Jersey Auction and the Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue Safety Bounce House.

The Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue District seeks Statements of Qualifications from firms for architectural and engineering services to develop construction drawings for a fire training tower, to include relocation of gas piping mock-up, demolition of existing wooden tower, and replacement of decking, railing support, and stairs over current confined space mock-up.

CEDAR HAMMOCK FIRE RESCUE AWARDED GRANT TO HELP PURCHASE LIFE SAVING STABILIZATION EQUIPMENT
Cedar Hammock Fire Control District was recently awarded a grant from Preferred Government Insurance Trust through the Training Incentive Program. The grant money was used to help purchase stabilization equipment that is utilized when responding to vehicle accidents with overturned or unstable vehicles. The equipment was placed in service on two of our engines that cover one of the main thoroughfares through Manatee County.
We appreciate the partnership we have with Preferred Government Insurance Trust.
BAYSHORE ELEMENTARY BACK 2 SCHOOL DRIVE
Equipping students for learning and education is a key factor in creating tomorrow’s leaders and workforce, so cedar hammock fire rescue was happy to support church of the cross with their annual backpack and school supplies event at bayshore elementary on august 8th & 9th. the firefighters and administration staff were also generous in giving donations to help with the purchase of some of these supplies. thank you to pastor stan pavkovich and church of the cross for all you do to help this community!

Firefighters welcomed students back to school at Prine elementary, bayshore elementary and lee middle school , while banners on the fire trucks warned drivers to slow down in school zones and be on the the lookout for students on their way to school.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING
JULY 11, 2017
Inspector Adam Chrisman and inspector marc massella conducted a fire extinguisher training event at P.A.C.E. Center for Girls. Inspector Chrisman & Inspector Massella worked with 60 Teachers and their students using a propane fueled fire trainer. this program allows for hands on training using a fire extinguisher in a controlled environment. should they need to use one in a real life experience, they will have a better understanding of how the extinguisher works and how it feels to put out a small fire.
